I Stop for Pennies

About

Me!
Welcome to IStopForPennies.com.

My name is David Hern, and I am 24 and engaged.

I passed the CPA Exam while working and going to grad school.

I know what it’s like to balance a full time job, being engaged, rent, exercise, etc. Whatever the circumstances are, I can probably identify with them.

I began my long (too long) journey toward the CPA designation in late 2008. I wanted to be a CPA, but I didn’t really want to work in public accounting.

My CPA Exam Scores

  • BEC 1x (81)
  • AUD 1x (75)
  • Reg 1x (82)
  • FAR 1x (84)

    My Education

Undergraduate degree in management with certificates in accounting and finance. Some graduate school (MBA) for my 150 hours requirement to be a CPA.

    My Work Experience

Currently, I work as an analyst in an investment banking group. Previously, I worked in the public accounting industry from 2008 until late 2009 and have held a few bookkeeping positions prior to that.

This blog is about overcoming failures and empowering yourself with first-hand knowledge and advice your best friend would give.

I hope to use this blog to share some of my knowledge and experience working in accounting, investment banking, and as a graduate student.  As one can imagine, the name for the blog was inspired by my fiancee’s annoyance of me stopping in the middle of busy streets to grab coins that we walk over.
